Miles And Miles For Ryan.

Ryan Farrell has racked up the frequent flyer miles and done some miles on the dirt ovals of Australia over the Christmas/New Year period.

It all started back on December 26 when he defended his Western Australian Championship down at Bunbury Speedway. Taking on a field of 30 other competitors in his Bunbury Auto Group/Cowra Contractors #95, Farrell showed them how its done, creating history on the way. He now has six WA crowns to his name, the same as the legendary Alf Barbagallo, the last five in succession.

Special thanks go to the whole Bunbury Autogroup team as well as Geoff Murphy who took the W95 Maxim under his wing for this show & the ever reliable Genesis Shocks, Criag Vosbergen & Graham Mills supply this team with a great product and we are very happy to bold these things on to our car, the are awesome "stated Farrell"

He returned to the Perth Motorplex the following night for the annual Xmas Cup. His confidence was high but unfortunately his results were not what he expected. Qualifying a lowly 11th starting spot for the A-Main, he only made up two spots due to a top wing failure, as the side board seperated it self from the main wing, he managed to finish the night in ninth, which was a creditable performance considering the failure to the car.

From there it was a quick dash to the airport to make his way to the east coast for three more nights of racing.

Teaming up with Matt Eastham and the Victory Lane Racegear/Drysdale Chaff Mills V88 he tackled the last three nights of WSS Speedweek against the best Australia, and some of America’s best at tracks like Mt Gambier, Avalon and Warnambool.

At Mt Gambier the car was extremely fast but didn’t get a break and only qualified sixth for the B-Main. After winning that, he started to make his way through the field only to have another car spin in front of him and he was unable to avoid it. A big crash but fortunately only minor damage that was fixed in time to get out to Avalon for the next nights racing.

Even though the team timed poorly, two heat wins earned Farrell enough points for a start in that evenings second dash. The only problem was that the second win ended with a broken rocker in the motor, but thanks to Tim and Mal Rankin and the V47 team whose night had ended early, they were able to borrow some and make it out in time for the dash. He locked in an eighth starting spot for the A-Main and showed some incredible speed early making it to as high as fourth, but this proved to be too fast too early. As the car started to go off he fought on to walk away with a seventh, still a good result.

Making the January 1 show at Warnambool was an effort made all that easier when Reeve Kruck and his Titan Racing Team lent the rockers needed to race that evening. The effort wasn’t wasted either as Farrell once again made the dash and secured a tenth starting position for the A-Main. Running high next to the fence he threaded his way past seven cars and brought the V88 home in third. Car owner Eastham was rapt “He put in a mighty drive and it’s a great result for all of us involved in the team. I thought Ryan was good enough for second but the lights going out hurt us. Thanks again to Tim, Mal and Reeve for their help so we could continue racing on the last two nights. ”

January 3rd had "Flyan" Ryan return to the Perth Motorplex for the annual Xmas Sprintcar Muster, Some minor engine problems greeted the team in hot laps & time trials, but being the professional outfit this Bunbury Autogroup teams is they repaired the W95 Maxim in time for the heats & A Main where Ryan would absoululey blitz the field and put in one of the drives of his life to win the main event and taking home his first ever Xmas Sprintcar Muster win.

As you can see Farrell is committed to getting in as many laps as possible wherever he can, and will be out to do some more this weekend when he fronts up to Margaret River Speedway for round 2 of the Hydraulink Southern Thunder Series in his ‘Silver Bullet’ #95 Maxim.
