Farrell Set To Return
Sprintcar driver Ryan Farrell applied for a NASR license in
order to compete in the 2010/11 World Series Sprintcars Season. NASR declined
to issue Ryan a licence at this time due to a pending criminal charge.
At the conclusion of legal proceedings, Ryan re-applied for a NASR licence. The
NASR Board subsequently met to consider Ryan's application.
After a
comprehensive review, the NASR Board has elected to issue Ryan with a
conditional NASR licence.
NASR Chairman Neil Sayer issued the following statement:
"The NASR Board, like all National sporting bodies, takes any criminal offence
seriously.
“Ryan’s case should serve as a warning to all speedway drivers that NASR takes
its responsibilities to the community seriously and will act and take action when it
deems necessary.
“In addition to criminal activity, NASR will continue to look at ways of
appropriately dealing with other incidents which bring our sport into disrepute.
Too often reports filter through to the National office of unfortunate events
occurring each weekend, in some form or another, at some speedway across
Australia.
NASR will continue to implement and develop its policies in order to
meet community expectations and encourage more people to take up the great
sport of speedway.
"We wish Ryan all the best and look forward to seeing him compete again very
soon."
Farrell stated” After much soul searching and lengthy discussions, both parties
have reached an acceptable outcome. We look forward to competing again, and
helping promote the sport throughout Australia. |
