Farrell Wants One Better

West Australian Sprintcar champion Ryan Farrell is looking to go one step further up the podium in his quest to produce a win in the AHG Sprintcar Series at Perth Motorplex this weekend.

Farrell was at his scintillating best the last time the #95 Russell Hall’s Bunbury Auto Group Maxim hit the high banks at Kwinana. The track was fast and Ryan showed just how good he was in the heats to earn a coveted front row starting position against rival Luche Monte for the A-Main.

Although leading the final he struggled as the front wing on the beautifully prepared Silver Bullet started to fail, making it increasingly difficult for the west coast hard charger to drive.

Team manager Steve Duggan explains “When the front wing fails like that after the contact it received, it caused the car to get a little light in the front end and dance around a bit. But the beast behind the wheel drove it well over those final six laps”.

And drive it the beast did. Starting out of position four at the final caution, Farrell drove the wheels off his #95 Russell Hall’s Bunbury Auto Group Maxim to just grab second from Monte on the finish line with a gap of 0.22 seconds between them.

It had been a war on the track, but the only real damage was a broken left rear rim. The beautifully built Maxim, affectionately called K3, has been taken back to the workshop, and has been given the once over by the team to make sure everything is perfect for this Saturday night when he takes on W.A.’s best.

Farrell has a hunger to win every time he gets in his race suit, but I’m sure it would be something special to win on a night dedicated to a man he raced many times during the past in the AHG series, the Magic Man Michael Figliomeni.
