Preparing For Round Two.
Last weeks good result at the opening round of the Performance Wholesale World Series Sprintcar championship for Ryan Farrell has been a blessing for the Monte Motorsport team crew of Kim and Dillon Buswell.
Farrell’s consistency during the meeting in last Saturdays event has seen the team only having to worry about one thing on the #95 J&J – maintenance. That’s right with no damage done to the car it takes some of the pressure off the Buswell boys as they keep Farrell’s PWWS campaign on track. With the time spent on the road the team is already under the pump to take care of the preparation between events, so to not have to do any extra work will lessen the challenge required to prepare the car every week. It makes things a lot easier when you have a weekend like the team did last weekend, and it comes as a blessing to only have to do the basics to prepare for this Saturday at Toowoomba.
The team has spent the last couple of days at the home base of the V8 Supercar team of Supercheap Auto Racing in Brisbane, owned by former Supercar racer, and now fellow Sprintcar pilot Paul Morris. “I can’t thank Paul and his team enough” crew chief ‘Buzzy’ Buswell said this week. “They have opened up their shop and helped us as much as possible to get everything ready for this weekend up at Toowoomba. We have been able to work in a professional environment, and it’s always great when people help like this on the road to makes our jobs that much easier.”
Being based in Brisbane has also given the chance for engine builder Ken and the team from KRE Race Engines to go over the finely tuned 410ci instruments and make sure that Farrell has every inch of horsepower available to him for this weekends assault. Farrell has said in the past that what he has on offer under his right foot is the best power plant he has ever raced with and Monte Motorsports are sure that the KRE team will have the V8 power source firing on all on all cylinders this weekend.
The entire team understands that it’s all about points racing in PWWSS and to do that you have to finish races and make the all important top 8 dash. From there it gives you a good chance to grab a result in the A-Main event that nets you plenty of points towards your season tally. Farrell has started the season just that way, and will be trying to make sure that it continues this weekend at the Charlton Raceway circuit.
Farrell has always been the excitement machine with his win at all costs attitude on the track, but over the years he has developed the art of sprintcar racing to the point where he the only risks he takes are calculated ones. He hasn’t won a PWWSS round since 2002, and who knows, maybe this weekend could be the see him add another victory to his resume.
