Farrell Flying The Aussie Flag High In NZ: BCM
In what can only be described as a season of complete lows, to some magnificent highs, Ryan Farrell will add something special his to his racing resume this weekend by adding a third country that he has raced in as well as Australia, USA he can now add New Zealand to the list, and this will top of a season of ups & downs.
Farrell will compete in the Lonestar New Zealand Sprintcar Grand prix at Palmerston North Speedway. Centrally located in the heart of Palmerston North, FMG Stadium (formerly the Showground’s) seats 15,000 people and has been the home of speedway in the city since 1929. From October to April the track hosts hundreds of competitors and thousands of fans from all over the country, as they flock to one of the best-appointed circuits in the southern hemisphere.
Farrell commenced season 2010/11 without a ride or licence due to circumstances out of his control, then Brian Hall from Halls Haulage racing stepped up and offered Ryan a drive with his team structure and from the get go was very unlucky not to make it onto the podium.
On the lead up to the penultimate round of the World Series Sprintcars at Manjimup Speedway Ryan received a phone call from Wayne Rowlett racing crew chief Malsey, he was offered the drive of the Skwid Signs #41 machine due to Wayne being unavailable due to business commitments so Ryan took to that like a man looking for a victory, and he did just that putting it on the top step of the podium, from then on Ryan Farrell has been extremely competitive where ever he turns wheels, winning night 1 of the Krikke Boys to sitting on the podium at night 2 of the boys race.
To run in NZ this weekend will be a thrill for Ryan and a chance to pay back some of the fans that have stood by him for this season, “seat time is all I can get at this point of the season, we are currently working on deals to run in this northern Easter events as well as putting things in place for next season, im very excited about NZ as well as season 2011/12, I can’t wait” commented Farrell before jetting off to NZ.
