Farrell Chasing Big Win In WWSS
‘Flyan’ Ryan Farrell has a lot to prove at this weekends rounds of Wanless World Series Sprintcars at the Perth Motorplex after a late race chance was taken away at Collie Speedway last Saturday night.
Farrell had the Bunbury Auto Group/Cowra Contractors #95 Maxim working the highline at the AHG round, only to receive contact and finish the A-Main early with a flat front tyre with less than ten laps left to run. Once again he was fast, just as he has been all season so far.
His consistency has been a highlight so far this season and it just goes to show that this year hasn’t been wasted. The team has done an excellent job preparing the ‘Silver Bullet’ for competition each week, and the experimental chassis settings have taught not only the team, but also Farrell a number of things that the ex-Kinser car is capable of doing on the track.
So this time out will see the debut of the teams other car that is affectionately known as K4, the car that Ryan campaigned with ‘The Kings’ colours at the final few shows of last season. He knows the car and what it is capable of doing on the high banks at Kwinana Beach. So this weekend he will give it all as he takes on the best the nation has to offer, plus a well respected American as well.
The likes of Multi-WWSS champions Max Dumesny and Brooke Tatnell, Robbie Farr, Trevor Green and American ‘Blackjack’ Brian Brown will test Farrell, as will local racers Luche Monte and Jamie Maiolo.
But Farrell knows what it takes to win in this type of field. He is the last Western Australian to win a round of WWSS, having taken out the Kalgoorlie round almost five years ago in what was one of the most memorable drives of his career. With only a handful of laps left and outside of the top five, he powered around the outside of a quality field then, and he will do it again this weekend on what has been a fast racing surface at the Motorplex.
So it’s been a test session so far during season 08/09 and as he has said “When the big meetings are on and the big boys come to town I want to be ready.” Is Ryan Farrell ready, I think so!! He has fought it out at the front of the pack during every A-Main on the west coast, and already has an A-Main win at Murray Bridge Speedway in South Australia.
So make sure you get to the track early to watch the Western Australian champ give it his best in what is se to be one of the biggest events in W.A. this summer, over two exciting nights this Friday and Saturday.
