88-95-88 : Good Numbers For Easter
That’s right those numbers will be good ones this weekend for Ryan Farrell as they represent which car number he will race this Easter weekend, and on which night.
This summer has seen Farrell as one of the most committed racers in the country, racing wherever and for whomever he can, and this weekend will be no different.
He will be racking up the frequent flyer miles over the three days, where he will race in two states at three venues, all completely different from one another – Avalon, Kwinana and Warnambool.
“I’ll be racing at Avalon on the Friday night of the Easter Trail, flying back home to race at the Gold Cup at the Motorplex on the Saturday and then flying back to race Warnambool on the Sunday. I’m not overexcited to be doing all that flying but I committed to Matt (Eastham owner of the Victory Lane Racegear #88) at the start of the year to race in this years Easter Trail.” He said.
It was planned to do all three nights of the Easter Trail but a change in the way the SEG points are allocated this year has seen the plans change. “Unfortunately the SEG haven’t come to the party with average points (for travelling to same night racing around Australia) and it’s extremely disappointing considering I have supported them since day dot.” He said this week. “So I have no choice. I’m going to have to miss out on racing at Mt Gambier which is doesn’t overly upset me, because I go there and even when I’m fast there I seem to have bad luck, but I still would have preferred to have completed the entire trail.”
He will race the #88 on both of the nights he is racing on the east coast, but when he returns to his home base of Perth it will see him contest the Gold Cup in a brand new car for the Monte Motorsport Team. It’s not just a brand new J&J car, but it will also sport the latest engine to come out if the KRE shop in Queensland. This car will see Ryan running the yellow #95 with sponsorship from his long time sponsor Russell Halls Bunbury Autogroup, something that might be happening for the last time as he readies himself for campaigning the Monte machine full time next season.
Farrell’s regular ‘Silver Bullet’ is currently being prepared for end of season sponsorship commitments and will be available for sale after that in whatever guise you would like – complete, as a roller, with or with out spares – once those commitments are completed.
But for all the Flyan Ryan Farrell fans these will be your last three opportunities to see one of Australia’s most tenacious and exciting racers before the end of the season. Farrell has put on a show where ever he has raced during the 2008/09 season and he won’t be resting on his laurels just yet as nothing would make him prouder than to win one last time this year for both car owners, old and new, this weekend.
