Farrell To Drive For Monte motorsports
Monte Motorsport announced today that 6 times W.A. Sprint Car Champion Ryan Farrell will be the lead driver for the Western Australian team driving under a 3 year performance based contract starting in the 2009/2010 season.
Luch Monte explained why the change to the already successful Team “Increasing business commitments have meant I need to reduce my racing over the 2009/2010 season but obviously I still wanted to continue Monte Motorsport as Sprint Car Racing is a great passion of mine. Ryan has proven himself to be one of the premier drivers in the Nation and by preference I wanted a West Australian driver in this West Australia team”.
Jeff Grubisa Team Manager of Monte Motorsport confirmed Luch Monte will continue to race reducing his commitments essentially to a selection of Western Australian events which are still to be set. “The Teams commitment to Luch and our sponsors will not change only the amount of racing Luch does in Western Australia. Thanks to John Farrell we will be able to make use of his transporter for the time Ryan is contracted; this will allow us to continue the professionalism Monte Motorsport is synonymous with even though Luch is taking a back seat here in Western Australia”.
Monte Motorsport with Ryan Farrell behind the wheel will race at most major events on the Australian calendar including the “Grand Annual Classic” at Warrnambool, the “50,000 To Win” at Parramatta, the “Easter Trail”, the “2010 Australian Sprint Car Title ” in Darwin and the full season of World Series Sprint Cars. In Western Australia the teams home base they will contest the “Western Australian Sprint Car Title”, the “Nanovich King of Wings” at Kwinana and the “Krikke Boys Show” at Bunbury with over events still to be selected for the calendar. The teams season will start in August racing the “Chariots of Thunder Sprint Car Series” in Darwin.
Crew chief Kim Buswell assisted by his son Dylan will have at their disposal the best equipment in the country, utilizing J & J Chassis and KRE Race Engines operating from the team’s state of the art transporter which was built by Kim last season.
Ryan will race under the familiar yellow, purple and black colours that have been Monte Motorsport for the past 8 years and will run his “95” number on the car.
Ryan’s current Bunbury Auto Group Racing team which is owned by John Farrell but managed by Steve Duggan is intended to continue under Steve’s ownership and ongoing management, but obviously with another driver.
One thing to note is that the current Bunbury Autogroup 95 team will be out in force for the remaining part of the sprintcar season trying to secure the team’s maiden AHG championship win as well as the Perth Motorplex track championship.
This is a big & exciting part of the Farrell motorsport operation & it will be business as usual in a quest to secure championship wins for 2008/09 while looking ahead at exciting times for Ryan Farrell & The Monte Motorsport operation.
Ryan who understandably is incredibly excited about the opportunity said “I have worked towards such an opportunity for the 15 years I have been racing sprint cars. I am thrilled to be racing for Monte Motorsport. Obviously I have some sadness in having to leave my own team which dad and I have built into a formidable force in the sport. Similarly to have to leave Matt Eastman’s Victory Lane race team on the East Coast where we were just starting to have some real success is also disappointing. But I am sure everybody would agree I had to take this opportunity, they do not come along very often”.
For more information please contact Monte Motorsport Team Manager, Jeff Grubisa. Further updates will be provided regularly as the calendar and sponsors are finalized for the 2010 Racing Season.
Ryan is expected to sign the final contract towards the end of March but is certain to be seen testing the “95” Monte Motorsport car over the next few weeks.
