Farrell Philosophical About Weekend.
Lets be honest, it wasn’t the night of nights for Ryan Farrell and the Monte Motorsport #95 at Perth Motorplex last Saturday night.
Although things looked good early on with a fine drive in the opening heat where he adapted well to a wet race track to pass a number of cars to grab a third place finish, it went down hill form there. “It was unfortunate I missed that heat and I can assure you I wont let it happen again” copping it on the chin for what transpired.
But come the final and Farrell was at his best, with an awesome opening lap move that had the six times Western Australian champion sitting in ninth after starting in eighteenth by the time the yellow lights came on after the completion of the opening lap.
He weaved his magic over the other competitors when the green opened up the racing once again and was one of the few who were moving forward on the tacky Kwinana high banks. He had made his way through to fifth and the show down between himself and Kerry Madsen was starting to eventuate, when it came to a very quick end.
As these two threaded there way through traffic to try and catch the leaders, two slower cars came together and left these two hard chargers no where to go. Both made contact with the spinning cars, damaging both cars enough where neither could return to complete the final laps of the A-Main.
“We were there at the end, I just had to race a couple of guys really hard on the way through.” He said contemplating what was a lost opportunity for another good result here in his home state.
When asked what happened in regards too the crash that ended his run he said “There’s bugger all damage – it’s just one of those things. I was racing Kerry and normally I would have been looking a bit further down the track and I probably would of avoided that if I had of been in fresh air by myself. I had to race Kerry that hard prior to that and I finally got him and that car stopped in front of me and I was to busy watching what Kerry was doing and not what the car in front of me was doing. It was just unfortunate.”
So now its time to leave his home state of W.A. and head off down the road, so is he going to regret leaving this rivalry with Kerry Madsen? “I love racing Kerry, I’ve been a fan of his since I started my career. He’s one of the guys I have looked up to, I like his aggressive nature, the do or die attitude. I was racing him wheel to wheel flat out and there are not many guys in Australia you can do that with and trust that you can get enough room not to crash. I look forward to when he gets over east and I’m sure when it comes February and we return here there will be more stouts to come for sure,”
